Hi. I'm Emma.
The first thing I want you to know is that I am deeply passionate about people and their journeys. In my perspective it is a gift to be able to be in the therapeutic space with another individual and have them share their triumph, confusion, anger, shame, and joy with you.
I view therapy as a sacred space where people can come as they are and truly be themselves. I believe in welcoming those I work with compassionately, with affirmation, no judgement, and no criticism. It is my job to get to know you, and your story, and work alongside you with your best interests in mind. I approach therapy with hope and joy. I love cultivating genuine relationships with my clients where they feel as though they can be their most authentic selves, and work to create an environment where we can laugh, cry, grieve, and explore together.
My presence in the therapy space is gentle and compassionate. I challenge my clients to step into change that feels authentic and connecting. I work with them to create personal growth and awareness of themselves, their patterns of interacting, and their relationships with others.
I was raised in California and currently reside in Spokane with my husband and our two fur babies. When I'm not seeing clients you can find me hiking, cooking, reading books (romantic comedies and fantasies are my favorites), or dancing. I am also in the process of publishing my first book with a wonderful colleague of mine!
I am licensed as a marriage and family therapist associate in the state of Washington. I received my Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Whitworth University and am a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). I have training and experience in a number of evidence-based therapies for treating individuals as well as couples and families and am in the process of becoming a Certified Sex Therapist.
My Guiding Principles Are
COMPASSION
Meeting you exactly where you are at with gentleness, affirmation and kindness. Life is hard and can be excruciating. You are safe with me.
GENUINENESS
I am imperfect. I experience challenges too. Together we come into the space where laughter, tears, and everything in between are welcome, and an invitation to be real is extended and encouraged.
NON-JUDGEMENT
Being able to be your authentic self in the ways that feel safe and comfortable. I approach my clients and their lives with curiosity, and want to reflect with them. Our sessions belong to you and the time will be yours.
FORWARD MOMENTUM
Healing isn't linear, and our journeys often look different than we thought they would. Whatever your journey, we will work together to move through it.
